Blog for the day:
That what hard but enjoyable. Col de la Madeleine Is long but not too steep. In some places it was 0%. Up early and on the climb pretty much before anyone else. Thought we might miss the noises aggressive motorbikes, but no. Some coming too close for comfort at speed. The hotel was ok, the ride out to the climb was messy, through not too nice towns and bad roads. Scenic in places.

The views were fantastic as they have constantly been in the alps. The weather has cleared, although we have strong winds which make descending tricky on my deep rim wheels. Legs felt real good early on and out in a good load of power. It caught up with me after I took a wrong turn. Saw a groundhog type animal, very sweet. There are golden eagles up there too, but unsure if saw any.

Had to pop my first gel of the trip at about 4k to go, not long after the glacier. Sprinted past the photographer and to to the top. Great ride, amazing views and Mont Blanc. 2000meters high, it's some climb, lots of TdF paintwork to see too.

The cafe at the top is great, the pizza is some of the best and it looked like Ricky Gervais was serving. The descent was just more wow wow wow! Still not getting the high speeds I used to, maybe I'm too old now and past it. Still, it was good fun and enjoyed it a lot!

Next it was up the Lacets de Montvernier, a classic of the TdF. It was amazing also, didn't get the full view down though, I guess we needed a helicopter. Great views and scenery. Got into town and had to get a photo of the opinal knife on the roundabout.

Great day! Forgot to add about our stay at faulty towers with Manuel. So many funny things this trip.
