The one with the speakers and the gun 1992/1993

Can't remember where it was, Iremember being in a small village parked up on the right, and we had to turn around and it was down a lane on the right. I guess it was near Langport, maybe Long Suton / Curry Rivelrings a bell. This was one of Sam's many parties that we went along to. The lead up to the party weekend led us to Hannah's house, affectionately known as Hannah the Spanner! We would go there to find out the information for the party as Sam virtually lived there, well, his speakers certainly did. We had a rough idea to where the party was, but not exactly as that would be considered too organised. The weather was crappie, the sky was dark and stormy and no one was really up for it. After driving around the area for a long time, we pulled over in the village and someone went to use the phone to see exactly where the party was being held. I don't know if we got an answer that way, or if we just became sheep and followed the convoy. Eventually we made it to the site, drove down a muddy track and took a right to the car parking area. We parked the car and skinned up. The Party was big and there were allot of people, but as the weather was crappie, most people stayed in their cars which always gives a bad atmosphere to the party, means its a flop. Sam arrived and we volunteered to give him a hand to drag his speakers into the tents to make the system even louder. I think there was something like 3K there already, and with Sam's carpet speakers, would take it up to 4K. They had a collection of tents merged together which was a problem as the rain was falling through all the gaps and the site was getting muddy quickly. There were allot of people dancing to the housey garagey sounds that were being mixed. Anyway the speakers in place the cables had to be taken from the amps at the front to the speakers at the back which caused more problems. Trying to negotiate pilled-up people with wires hanging from the tau-polling is not easy. Even when completed the speakers did not all work. We retired back to the car for a smoke. There were still loads of people in their cars smoking and playing music.

This when the party scene was beginning to go down hill. The music was changing to the stuff we didn't like, and the whole atmosphere was changing, mainly by "pills", lots of smakey & ketamine tablets were doing the rounds. A few of us had a quick dance and mooch around the party and ended up back stage The party wasn't too bad, did enjoy it. I had my trusty projector which took ages to set up, but took down not long afterwards. They seemed relatively organised with a "stage" made out of a trailer where the decks were. Ortofon concords were being used to good effect by a female DJ scratching in Rabbit City 3??. There were loads of cables everywhere and John had his nose in the amps. He had his trusty Mag-Lite with him.

Either I was on a bad one, or the whole vibe was wrong and everyone decided it was time to shoot on, must of only been about 4.00 or 5.00 in the morning. Anyway, it was cold and wet. Got home quickly as we sort of knew the way home, well, improvised. Did not manage to get any photos. A few days after the party which was again, featured on the local news, we found Tim and asked how it went after we left. He done many pills and said that it got better! Tim said that Alex Baker had got beaten-up at the front gate and threatened with a shot gun about some debts. Also apparently the police turned up and closed the party down on Sunday night.
