Stroud 1992

This was an interesting evening to say the least. We had a three car convoy leaving from the Rife's. Jon, John and myself. We raced up the motorway together over-taking and under-taking while taking photos. Most excellent. I had Mark and some girl in my car, while Jon had his M.G. with Justin Cox and some others, while John had Steve. This other car joined, can't remember who, and as we drove into the service station, he decided to drive over the curb puncturing two tires, it was very funny. John had to lend this guy one of his spare wheels, which he was not very happy about. Got to Stroud itself and the place was full of cars, you just couldn't move, it was one of the last or first big parties of the season, and it was huge, everyone was there. We were driving down every side street you could imagine trying to find this place, all we knew was that it held in a ware-house. Dead ends, back streets, trading estates, we tried them all. The locals were getting very stressed out at it all, as it was late at night and there were loads of cars driving like idiots around their normally sleepy town. Remember pulling over for a spliff and to take stock, and there were people on the door stops watching and looking on at this madness, as that was what it was! Some how we ended up on the hill or common overlooking the town where everyone had gathered. It was total mayhem, the police had blocked every entrance except for one, so it was like a huge traffic jam on top of a hill. We drove up and down for ages following little splinter convoys. We even ended up asking locals who were out seeing what all the fuss was about. Loads of pics of the huge convoys. We pulled over where Johns car had overheated and exploded, he had somehow managed to burn his hand. Then the convoy headed off, we somehow managed to loose John & Jon in the mass of cars surging it's way to the rave.

We managed to park in a Tesco car park I think and ended up walking a bit to the party, not to far through a park. It was in a huge warehouse, Great Mills I think which had closed down. Everyone was selling E's, every type you could imagine. Burgers, MDMA clear caps, Doves, everything, it was like amazing the amount of dealers. Got in O.K. but I heard that latter the bad boys were charging people £5 to get in later on, cunts. Lots of photos, most of them tell the story. Did not see any one we knew in there, too many people. There were people climbing onto one of the tall speaker stacks, they were told in very colourful language to get off. At the back were office type rooms with very flimsy ceilings, and ravers were standing on them, and of course they fell through. On the right, halfway towards the front there were cars with their backs open, from there people were selling drinks at extortionate prices. Bought a very expensive pill or clear cap, not bad. All what was left of Great Mills was the letter E, of course. Music was kicking, loads of euro, and I think I remember Easygroove and Grooverider played there, I think they may have had a live act, not too sure that took for ever to get organised. It was really hot and steamy inside and Mark tried to open the back shutters to let some air in because he was beginning to burn up, the bad boys didn't like it and closed them quickly. Outside loads of people just chilled out every where. I think we went early as the girl had to get home, who ever it was. Also have news footage of the event. Two speaker stacks on either side of the room, huge, not sure on the K though. That's about it, I think there may have been a pill called a burger which had a trip inside the cap, but not to sure. There were no lights except one strobe.

(multimap) I think it was near the leisure centre, we had to park in a carpark and walk.
