Dear Riddler,

Hows it going?

I was looking at your website today and I was well chuffed to see my record
on your MP3 list. I made the house side with my cousin (we were 'Shiva')
and he did the funky/mellow side with his other band called 'Serene'. I
heard the Shiva side-first track on Colin Favor two weeks in a row and I was
well happy. That was our first record and after that we made an EP on a
local record label in Pitsea, Essex but it took them so long to release it
and rave style had changed a bit and it didnt do as good as it should have
(i did hear a Bukem mix tape with one track on it). After this I went to
Detroit and did some real shit commercial techno- funk- house. I hide that
vinyl upstairs! My cousin went on to do jazzy electronic stuff.

Anyway, you've made an old raver(34) very happy so cheers for that.

Take it easy

we recorded the track (and all ep) at vons in london in 1991. it cost us
about £1200 to record and press the 1000 copies. we didnt have a
distributor so we went around london doing lots of sale or return for a few
weeks, including mash and blackmarket.

we used a tb303 bassline with a sh101 synth for the sub base. the
'meanwhile' sample was off a batman (the original tv series) album. the
drums are a mixture of drum machine and sampled breakbeat (i loved hip hop
in the 80's).

we did an ep in 92 on general productions label called ready to go ep. the
best tracks are shout remix and shout black dog remix.

detroit was good but i tried to make commercial rave and it sounded cack
(the record company werent really underground) but the women were lovely
there.

since 1993 i sort of drifted away from dance music and done all sorts of
jobs including staying 8 months in thailand.

the last couple of months ive started to listen to old stuff again and
buying dance cds. i know im a bit late on this one but i heard messiah by
konflict for the first time the other day...fuckin' brilliant! ive got a lot
of catching up to do but it seems to me that 90-92 was the best time for new
ideas(only a personal view).

take it easy,
